Frameworks come and go, but the fundamentals of clean architecture, testing, and maintainability endure.
Every year brings a new framework promising to change how we build software. Yet the applications that survive share a common foundation that has little to do with the tool of the month.
Design for change
Requirements will change — that is the only certainty. A clear separation of concerns, thin controllers, and a well-defined service layer make change cheap instead of catastrophic.
- Keep business logic out of controllers and views.
- Validate input at the boundary, every time.
- Write tests for the behaviour you cannot afford to break.
Performance is a feature
Cache thoughtfully, avoid N+1 queries, and measure before you optimise. Fast software is a competitive advantage users feel immediately.
